Gamifying your workout is an excellent way to make exercise more fun and engaging. By turning your fitness routine into a game, you can stay motivated and push yourself to new limits. There are many ways to gamify your workout, such as using fitness apps that track your progress and reward you for achieving your goals and giving your best effort. You can also create your own challenges and compete with friends or family members to see who can achieve the best results. According to recent research, “gamifying” exercise can improve motivation and make fitness more effective at all levels.

Here at the YMCA of the Fox Cities, we've adopted a program that anyone is able to use to take their workouts to the next level. The Myzone system helps you get the most out of your workout by displaying heart rate, calories, time and effort to a facility display or to the Myzone App, while simultaneously creating a personal online logbook of all physical activity. Myzone uses a game-based platform and social experience that rewards EFFORT not fitness, motivating you to reach your personal best.

As a Myzone user, you can:

  • Earn MEP’s (Myzone Exercise Points) for virtually any activity, regardless of the location.

  • Login online anywhere and track their activity and progress.

  • Connect with Personal Trainers for feedback and guidance.

  • Participate in challenges based on your personal EFFORT not simply a fitness level.

  • Achieve goals utilizing a system that is 99.4% accurate.

Additionally, gamification provides a sense of competition and community, which can enhance your overall experience and sense of accomplishment. Not only physically, but sparks new social connections and conversations that build your mind, and body.

Sarah, a frequent Myzone user, tells us “Myzone really motivates me to keep my MEP’s up each month. I like that the statuses are progressive and now that I have hit the “Hall of Fame” status which took 4 years, there’s no option to let that slide!”

Whatever method you choose, gamifying your workout can help you stay active, healthy, and motivated to reach your fitness goals.
