The Strong Kids Campaign – Our Mission in Action
The mission of YMCA of the Fox Cities is to put Christian principles into practice by promoting youth, adult and family activities that build a healthy spirit, mind and body for all. The Strong Kids Campaign makes the “for all” possible. In 2006, the YMCA of the Fox Cities provided financial assistance to 5,503 children, adults and families. Our policy is to provide all the assistance needed for everyone who is interested in benefiting from our programs, camps, child care and membership. With your support, we are making our community healthier, happier, and a better place to live and work. Thank you for helping us build strong kids, strong families and strong communities. Grateful Strong Kids Scholarship Recipients: - “I am the happy recipient of a YMCA scholarship. The YMCA has made a fundamental impact in my life and happiness, as well as the lives and well being of autistic children I care for and their families. All the benefits of the YMCA can truly be shown in the smiles and improved learning of the children I work with. The YMCA continues to meet their physical release needs and provides a stimulating social learning atmosphere with a wide array of fun programs.”
- “It’s awesome that this is available for me and my children. Being a single mom, it wouldn’t be affordable or possible for us to enjoy these activities if it wasn’t for the scholarship program. Thank you!”
- “For both my son and me, it’s been absolutely wonderful. I am becoming physically fit, losing weight and enjoying the whole process. My son is making so many new friends and enjoys the open swim and basketball courts. He is so happy to be a member of the YMCA. Thank you!”
- “Without the help, my 4-year old would not have been able to go to preschool and be around other children who are also learning. Also, our family enjoys swimming. Thank you so much. What a wonderful program!”
- “I am a single parent (male). I have six sons who have, for the past six years, spent hour upon hour at the Y. I know that keeping them in a positive environment helps to keep them safe and out of trouble. Having some place safe for my children to go has been more help than you can imagine. Thank you very much.”
- “Swim and gymnastics has built my daughter’s confidence tremendously. Knowing and having some one to teach her what I can’t or don’t have time to, is a HUGE help for both of us. I feel so much better after working out at the facility, both physically and mentally. We are thankful for the YMCA!”
- “My children have been able to attend camp because of the scholarship program. Because of being disabled and on a limited income, I couldn’t afford it any other way. I am truly grateful to the YMCA and this program. The camp has always been the highlight of their year.”

Volunteer
Your time and talent are needed!
Think about what the YMCA has meant in your life. Does the Y help you maintain good health? Did you or your children learn how to swim, play basketball, football or soccer at the Y? Did you attend Y camps? Did your children attend preschool classes at the Y? Every YMCA youth program is carefully planned to provide the experiences children need to grow up to be strong, healthy contributing adults.
The Strong Kids Campaign runs from February through April and makes these experiences possible for all. As a Strong Kids volunteer, you spread the good news about the YMCA and its programs that build strong kids, strong families and strong communities. This is critically important, since our campaign is heavily volunteer-driven. More than 300 volunteers each year help us to meet our fund-raising goals and make our facilities and programs available to all. We are proud that our Strong Kids Campaign is a true community effort – caring people giving their time and talents to help others.
If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Sandy Drexler at (920) 954-7637 or your local YMCA branch: Appleton YMCA (920) 739-6135 Fox West YMCA (920) 757-9820 Heart of the Valley YMCA (920) 830-0414 Neenah-Menasha YMCA (920) 729-9622

Endowment Giving Heritage Club and Legacy Circle An Endowment Gift is Forever The YMCA of the Fox Cities’ Heritage Club has been in existence for more than 10 years, honoring the faithful men and women who believe in our mission. The members ensure the Y’s success now and into the future by making an outright gift to the YMCA Endowment or by leaving the YMCA in their estate plans. Since its inception, we have grown to nearly 370 members. What do all these people have in common? A desire to make a difference now and forever A belief in the YMCA and its long-term vitality The heart-felt appreciation of the people who benefit from others’ generosity A valuable reduction on their taxes Heritage Club gifts are invested in the YMCA Endowment and a portion of the interest is available each year. Gifts may be directed for general purposes or restricted for program or capital purposes. This money is vitally important, as it funds programs and capital expenditures that are possible only because of this support. Every year, YMCA facilities and programs benefit from the funds generated by the endowment. In 2006, more than $370,000 will be invested to better serve our members. This annual infusion of money allows our branches to keep our buildings, equipment and programs in optimal condition.

Ways to Give The information on this site is not intended as legal, tax or investment advice. For such advice, please consult an attorney, tax professional or investment professional. Gifts of Cash This is the simplest way to give. Cash Gifts are tax deductible for the year in which you contribute. You may deduct up to 50 percent of your adjusted gross income for the taxable year; any excess is deductible over the next five years. Gifts of Securities The best stocks to donate are those that have increased greatly in value, particularly those producing a low yield. Gifts of appreciated securities may result in: - Capital gains tax savings
- The creation of an income tax deduction
- The removal of this asset from your estate for estate tax purposes
Gifts of appreciated securities have a potential federal income tax deduction of up to 30% of the adjusted gross income of the donor with a 5-year carry forward of any excess.
Remainder Trusts Charitable Remainder Trusts (CRTs) are gift arrangements that enable you to contribute to the YMCA of the Fox Cities while providing income for yourself and/or another person. These individually managed trusts offer the following important benefits: - Creating a CRT entitles you to a sizable income-tax charitable deduction.
- The income from the CRT, together with your tax savings, usually produces increased spendable income.
- Gifts of appreciated property defer capital gains taxes and, in many instances, will avoid them entirely.
- Donated assets are not subject to gift and estate taxes.
Most important of all, Charitable Remainder Trusts allow you to make a significant contribution to the YMCA, often larger than would otherwise be possible.
