We focus our work in three key areas, because nurturing the potential of kids, helping people live healthier, and supporting our neighbors are fundamental to strengthening communities.

We believe the values and skills learned early on are vital building blocks for life. Because of the Y, more young people in neighborhoods around the nation are taking a greater interest in learning and making smarter life choices. At the Y, children and teens learn values and positive behaviors, and can explore their unique talents and interests, helping them realize their potential. That makes for confident kids today and contributing and engaged adults tomorrow.

Y Service Club of Appleton

The Appleton Y Service Club celebrated its 58th anniversary in 2008. The club is affiliated with the YMCA of the Fox Cities which includes the communities of Appleton, Neenah, Menasha, Greenville, Kimberly, and Kaukauna. The club conducts two fund raising projects annually a Christmas tree sale and a pancake breakfast that served some 571 persons in 2008. These two successful events enabled the club to give the YMCA over $10,000 for support of programs that included pre-K day care scholarships, Girls Night Out, Youth in Government, summer camp scholarships to Camp Mambos, and special needs for Camp Hope. In addition to the fundraising activities, club members enjoy social activities such as a traditional old-fashioned tail gate party at a Wisconsin Timber Rattlers minor league baseball game with neighboring Y Service Clubs and a golf outing.

yservicelogo3Our Purpose...

Our purpose is to be a worldwide fellowship of persons of all faiths working together in mutual respect and affection, based on Christian values, and with a common loyalty to the Young Men’s Christian Association, striving through active service to develop, encourage and provide leadership to build a better world for all mankind.

Our Character...

The Y Service Club is specifically oriented to leader-ship and service within the YMCA and the communities served by the Y. The club provides opportunities to cultivate good fellowship and keep members informed on, and actively involved in civic, economic and social matters. The Appleton Y Service Club meets twice per month during the school year (September through March) at the YMCA. Members develop a program schedule, which includes community speakers, Y staff presentations orienting members to Y programs, road trips/social events, and planning fundraising events to help the YMCA provide innovative programming to the Fox Cities. The club sponsors various fund raising events, including the sale of Christmas trees and a Pancake Breakfast to benefit Y programs. Proceeds have been used to fund youth scholarships to Camp Nan A Bo Sho, childcare and preschool assistance for needy families, equipment, and training materials.

Our Objectives

• To function primarily as a service club for the YMCA.
• To support other worthy organizations.

• To keep members informed on, and actively involved in religious, civic, economic, social and international matters.
• To cultivate good fellowship.
• To support International, Area and Regional projects of the Association.
