ADULT FIELD TRIPS

Adult field trips are local outings designed to explore all the amazing things the Fox Cities has to offer. We take the work out of planning, all you need to do is sign up and meet us there!

Please note that transportation is not provided for these trips, and it is your responsibility to meet at the trip location at the designated time.

APRIL/MAY TRIPS

GOLF OUTING WITH FELLOW YMCA MEMBERS
Tuesday, April 30
9:00 AM Tee Time
Registration Deadline: Tuesday, April 23

Join our resident golf instructor, Brandon Thielen at Winegamie Golf Club. Brandon will help with our swing at the driving range and give tips for chipping and putting at the practice putting green. After our practice sessions, we will decide whether we want to ‘hit the links’ for a round of 9 holes or maybe just retire to the clubhouse for lunch and/or a refreshment.

HIKE KIMBERLY POINT PARK

Our walk will be on accessible sidewalks and be about 2 miles long. Enjoy the beautiful Kimberly Point Park and Winnebago shoreline while making a few pit stops to learn about historical landmarks in Neenah. Park (and meet) off North Park Street, near the Bergstrom-Mahler Museum of Glass.

BICYCLE TOUR ON THE FRIENDSHIP TRAIL

Starting at the Neenah-Menasha YMCA, we will take a 7-mile [one-way] bicycle ride. We will start on the Trestle trail, go over Hwy 41 on the CB Trail, and then start our trek on the limestone Friendship Trail and then north to Oakwood Gardens. We will take time to peruse the greenhouses and perhaps set some plants aside to come back to pick up. On our way back to the Y, we can decide where we may like to stop for coffee or lunch!

JUNE TRIPS

HIKE BUBOLZ NATURE PRESERVE

Join us for a 3-mile hike (approximately) in the beautiful Bubolz Nature Preserve. This dirt trail is mostly flat, without elevation gain. Depending on the day, it could potentially be muddy and includes some uneven ground. Meet at the trailhead near the Faith Technologies Lodge.

BICYCLE TOUR TO HECKRODT WETLAND
PRESERVE

Starting at the Neenah-Menasha YMCA, we will take a 6-mile [one-way] bicycle ride to Heckrodt Wetland Reserve. At Heckrodt, we will lock up our bikes and take a short stroll along their boardwalks. This time of year, the reserve will be teaming with new growth and our aviary friends. On our way back, for those that are interested, we will stop at Weathervane for a late breakfast or early lunch or maybe, just one of their famous cinnamon rolls!

JULY TRIPS

HIKE 1000 ISLANDS ENVIRONMENTAL CENTER

Our walk today will take us through (approximately) 2.5 miles of a combination of accessible and dirt/mulch trials. We will split our time amongst flat and mostly groomed, but occasionally uneven surfaces. Meet at the Nature Center Building.

BICYCLE TOUR DOWN THE WIOWASH TRAIL

Meet us with your bicycle at Trailhead Park in Larsen. We will head south on the Wiowash State Trail for a 12-mile ride into Oshkosh. There, we will grab lunch at Fratellos and enjoy the waterfront before heading back home to complete our 24-mile trip.

AUGUST TRIPS

HIKE BRUCE B. PURDY NATURE PRESERVE

Did you know, the Y has over 104 acres of land, thanks to the kindness of late Bruce and Barbara Purdy. The hike could be up to 3 miles. This trail is more challenging with uneven terrain, and occasional inclines. Meet at the Apple Creek YMCA.

BICYCLE TOUR DOWN THE WIOWASH TRAIL
Wednesday, August 28
9:00 AM-NOON

Meet us with your bicycle at Trail head Park in Larsen. We will head north on the Wiowash State Trail for a 11-mile ride into Hortonville. In Hortonville, we will stop at Dairy Queen and enjoy a sweet, cool treat before heading back home to complete our 22-mile trip.

HIKE BRUCE B. PURDY NATURE PRESERVE

Join us for another hike on the 104 acres of land adjacent to the Apple Creek YMCA, thanks to the kindness of the late Bruce and Barbara Purdy. Our Environmental Education Director will help you navigate through the trails while sharing information about the ‘flora and fauna’ in the preserve. This trail is more challenging with uneven terrain and occasional inclines. Meet us at the Apple Creek YMCA.

BICYCLE TOUR TO TELULAH PARK

9:00-11:00 AM

Meet us with your bicycle at the Heart of the Valley YMCA. We will head west on the CE trail towards Appleton. Our tour will keep us on the south bank of the river and allow us to explore Telulah Park and the Riverheath area. We will take a short break to have a snack or grab a drink before heading back to the Heart of the Valley YMCA. This ride is approximately 6-miles round trip, but you are welcome to extend your ride by exploring the CE trail to the east on your own.
