SNAP - SPECIAL NEEDS ADAPTIVE PROGRAMS

The Y SNAP program for children and young adults with special needs shines as an example of how participating in healthy activities can result in not only improved physical fitness but also personal growth, fun and friendships. Individuals with physical, developmental and intellectual disabilities have the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive through recreational and social opportunities.

 

SNAP BINGO BLAST FOR ADULTS

Held at Appleton YMCA

This weekly opportunity is for individuals with special needs ages 18 and older. Come join in the fun and socialize with friends! Play the game, listen to music and win some prizes!

Thursdays 5:45-7:00 PM

October 10, 2019 – April 30, 2020

Fee: FREE for everyone (No registration required)

Held at Neenah-Menasha YMCA

A wellness class for ages 7-17 offering opportunities for fitness training and social learning. Benefits include: motor skill development, increase confidence, improve social skills, improve self-awareness and brain/body connection. 

Registration is required and limited to 10 participants.

Held at Neenah-Menasha YMCA

A Youth Yoga and Contemplative Art class for ages 7-17. Class features breathing, movement, and awareness development. Benefits include: motor skills development, sensory integration, improved self-awareness, brain & body connection and encourage calmness and concentration.

Registration is required and limited to 10 participants.

SNAP PUMP IT UP

Held at Neenah-Menasha YMCA

This wellness class is for non-special needs, homeschooled students and special needs children with cognitive delays or physical challenges. Will learn and workout on different fitness exercise machines (Fit Zone), increase strength, core muscles and agility with obstacle courses.

Registration is required and limited to 10 participants.

SNAP Tai Chi

Held at Neenah-Menasha YMCA

Learn more about Tai Chi and its many health benefits! This ancient Chinese tradition is practiced as a graceful form of exercise. It involves a series of movements performed in a slow, focused manner and accompanied by deep breathing. Tai Chi helps promote better balance, flexibility and strength while
encouraging a sense of serenity that helps you take on the day!

This adaptive class is open to ALL ABILITIES! Caregivers and family are encouraged & welcome to attend if special needs member requires 1:1 assistance.
