Lifeguarding
Lifeguards play a vital role in creating a safe and welcoming environment for everyone who visits the Y. Through American Red Cross–certified training, participants learn the skills needed to prevent and respond to emergencies while gaining confidence and leadership experience. Becoming a lifeguard is not only a great first job, but also an opportunity to work at the YMCA, build valuable experience, and make a meaningful impact in your community.
Swim Lessons for All Ages
YMCA swim lessons are designed to promote children’s health, safety and confidence in the water. Our programs support parents and encourage their involvement in teaching kids one of the most valuable life skills they will ever learn. Classes stress the Y’s core values and give kids the chance to practice them, building self-esteem and self-worth while they have a great time. We offer lessons for all ages and ability levels — from infants and toddlers to adults who are just getting started.
Safety Around Water
Drowning is preventable — and the Y is committed to doing something about it. Our Safety Around Water program is designed to reach children at risk of drowning and teach them the basic water safety skills that can save their lives. Learning to be safe in the water builds confidence, promotes healthy living and gives families peace of mind. The Y has made this a community priority, because we believe every child deserves to be safe.
