SAFETY AROUND WATER
Drowning poses a threat to the health and well-being of people nationwide, particularly among children and minority populations. Learning how to swim and be safe in the water is one of the most important skills that people should have. Not only does it save lives, but it also promotes healthy living and builds confidence. The Y has committed to tackling this issue with Safety Around Water, a program designed to reach children at risk of drowning and teach them basic water safety skills.
The Fox Cities YMCA Swim Team encourages young athletes to develop the Y values of honesty, caring, respect and responsibility needed to achieve their goals in and out of the pool. Through the teaching of commitment, goal setting and self-discipline, as well as the combination of individual and team aspects of the sport of swimming, each athlete on our team has the opportunity to discover what it is to reach one's personal potential.
