EMPLOYEE RECOGNITION PROGRAM
Extra Mile
Employees are recognized by their peers and members of the Y for going the extra mile by performing above and beyond what is expected, providing exemplary service, making a difference in people's lives, and modeling the Y's four core values.
If members feel they have been given service by an employee who has gone the "Extra Mile," ask the Member Service Desk for a card to fill out so that the employee can be recognized for their outstanding service. The card is then given to the employee's supervisor who will recognize the employee. Extra Mile Awards can be achieved repeatedly throughout the year.
Employees receiving 'extra mile' recognition will receive an extra mile card, which will be posted on the bulletin board, inclusion in the staff newsletter, recognition at the quarterly staff meeting, and a YMCA gift.
Staff Champion
Staff Champions are recognized by members of their Y branch Management Staff team for exemplary service to members, co-workers and staff, and have shown initiative and innovation in their work. They have gone above and beyond what is expected of them and are star performers who exemplify our core values and practice the Y staff pledge in their actions and interactions. Staff Champion award winners are recognized at each branch's Quarterly Customer Service Meetings by their supervisor.
Staff Champion Award status can only be achieved one time and Staff Champions must be employed a minimum of two years prior to receiving this recognition. All staff are eligible for this award and nominations can be submitted through the Branch Executive Director.
Employees receiving a staff champion recognition will receive a staff champion jacket, inclusion in both the staff and member quarterly newsletter, recognition at the branch quarterly customer service meeting and association All Staff Meeting, receive a letter of recognition from the Branch Executive Director and have their name on the branch "Staff Champions" plaque. Reference to the Staff Champion Award will be included in the recipient's personnel file.
YMCA Hero
YMCA Heroes are recognized for their continuous service to Y Members that far exceeds member expectations. They have already been recognized as a Staff Champion and have continued to go above and beyond the expectation of good customer service to our members. YMCA Heroes must have been working for the Y in any position for at least 5 years and have already earned Staff Champion status.
YMCA Hero award winners from each branch are recognized at the association All Staff Meeting by their supervisor and Executive Director. One employee from each branch will be recognized per year.
YMCA Heroes will receive a special name tag, YMCA jacket, recognition at the All Staff and Annual Meetings, a letter from the Leadership Team/Board Chair and will be listed in the Y's Annual Report. Reference to the YMCA Hero Award will be included in the award recipient's personnel file.
